PERC is a recovery learning center (RLC) model program. This program is completely run by peers. Our staff and volunteers are in recovery from a psychiatric disability and/or substance abuse. Having a lived experience of recovery, we provide peer to peer services and we are able to understand participants’ experiences. Having this perspective helps peers to recover. Recovery is a unique experience of each individual, but meeting someone who has been there helps that individual to understand the environmental and social difficulties that stand in the way of recovery.
PERC is career focused. We mainly provide pre- and post-employment services, recovery and wellness groups. The program does not require a referral. The person with a mental health diagnosis can simply come into the center. We are in the process of creating new vocational programming and would love to get your input into what you think are the needs of the mental health community. This is an exciting opportunity to create a program which people with mental illness can make their own.
